Robert Allen Fitzgerald, 74, of St. Marys passed away at his residence on Aug. 2, 2021.
Robert was born on Sept. 13, 1946, in Waynesboro, Virginia, and a resident of St. Marys since 1988. Bob was a devoted and loving husband for 53 years to his wife, Carolyn. He was a veteran of Vietnam and served 22 years in the United States Navy. He retired as a chief boatswain mate for the sub base Kings Bay in 1992. After retirement, he worked for Kingsland Ford Mercury and Atlantic Auto brokers in St. Marys. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in St. Marys, American Legion Post 511, Fleet Reserve Association Branch 248, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8385 in Kingsland.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Fitzgerald of St. Marys; two children, Elizabeth Walker (Thomas) of Woodbine and Noah Fitzgerald (Michelle) of Brunswick; a brother, Edward Raleigh Fitzgerald of Waynesboro, Virginia; and grandchildren, Amanda Walker, Tyler Fitzgerald, Cody Walker and Shyann Walker.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Carl W. Fitzgerald and Dorothy E. Spicer, and a grandson, Chadwick E. Walker.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 14, 2021, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys. Burial will be held in Augusta at a later date.
