James “Jim” Blazek
James “Jim” Blazek, 63, of Kingsland passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, at his residence.

Born March 28, 1950, in East St. Louis, Ill., he was the son of the late Alfred and Helen Blazek. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Blazek.

Jim had been a resident of Camden County since 1996. He was a graduate of Assumption High School in Belleville, Ill., was a pinch hitter for the high school baseball team and was of the Catholic faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving his country honorably with two tours of duty in Vietnam.

Jim had been employed as a Navy diver-rigger with the Department of Defense, civil service, retiring with 30 years of service. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, was an avid fisherman and trophy bass fisherman, a 5K and 10K runner and a competitive body builder.

Survivors include his wife, Gale Blazek; daughters, Sara and Robin; grandchildren, Shiloh, Chalis, Gavin, Niko, Kayley and Chase.

Private memorial services and inurnment will be held by the family at a later date.

Allison Memorial Chapel of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.
