Sid Clark, 88, of St. Marys passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at UF Health in Jacksonville, Fla., with his family at his side following a courageous battle with his health.

Sid was born into this world, April 27, 1926, and was received in the arms of Jesus on March 26, 2014.

Sid was born in Fitzgerald and raised in Rhine before moving to St. Marys. He was a dedicated husband and father who worked at, and retired from, the Gilman paper mill in St. Marys for many years to provide for his family.

He was one of three children born to the late Sid and Mammy Clark and was the beloved husband of Jean Clark for more than 61 years. Sid will forever be remembered by his beloved children, Zell Thomas, Debbie Shedd (Carl), and Jamie Clark (Jennifer); treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Amanda Richardson (Jack), Eric Thomas, Naomi Clark, Trey Richardson and Tyler Richardson; niece, Kathy Acker and nephew Dr. Jim Burnham; along with countless other family and friends whom were very blessed to know him.

Sid loved to spend time in the woods hunting, on the water fishing or just spending time with family and friends. He could sit and talk for hours to anyone, never meeting a stranger. Everyone always heard unforgettable stories, and just after a short time of knowing him, he quickly became known as papa.

Sid touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.

The family will receive friends and family from 7:30-9 p.m. Friday, March 28, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at Westside Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Allison Memorial Chapel of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.
