Belinda VanBuskirk, 62, of St. Marys, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014, at Community Hospice, Morris Center, in Jacksonville, Fla.

Born on April 28, 1951, in Houlton, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Della Anderson.

Mrs. VanBuskirk had resided in Camden County for the past 37 years. She graduated from Houlton High School in Houlton, Maine, and following graduation she enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving at White Sands Missile Range in Nevada for three years; she then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving at Port Services Naval Base in Charleston, S.C., as a storekeeper, third class petty officer. She was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1977.

Mrs. VanBuskirk was a library technician at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base, later with the security department, Kings Bay civil service and worked several years as a library technician at the St. Marys Public Library. Following several other employments, she retired early in 2013.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys. Her wishes were to be cremated, with her ashes to be buried at sea.

Survivors include her husband, Steven A VanBuskirk, U.S. Navy (Ret.), of St. Marys; and a sister, Bonita McCormick, and her family of Idaho.

The family requests for memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. VanBuskirk be made to the American Cancer Society.
