Mary Elaine Winfrey passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla.

Mary Elaine Mungin Winfrey was born Nov. 21, 1955, in Folkston, to the late Fred Mungin Sr. and Ardenia Myers Mungin.

Mary was educated in the Camden County Public School System. Mary moved to Atlanta and met Desmond Winfrey in 1982. On June 10, 1995, Mary and Desmond were joined in holy matrimony.

Besides her parents, a son preceded her in death.

Memories of her life will be forever cherished by her devoted husband, Desmond of Kingsland; siblings, Marva M. Jones of Atlanta, Fred Mungin Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., Luvenia Stokes of Jacksonville, Charles Mungin of St. Marys, Morris E. Mungin (Delores) of Atlanta, Virginia Livingston of Atlanta, Rev. Harold Mungin (Rebecca) of Kathleen and Viola Mungin of St. Marys; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert (Mary) Winfrey, Linda Bowens, Pinkie Ector and Charlton Ector, all of Atlanta; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 25, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Kingsland. Interment was in Kennedy Memorial Gardens, Ellenwood, Georgia, on Wednesday, March 26.

Sunset Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
