Born in Waycross, he was the son of Joseph Arlington and Delila Anderson Barnard.
Mr. Barnard had worked for the State of Georgia as a laborer before his retirement. He loved playing the harmonica. He was a member of Little Phoebe Primitive Baptist Church in Folkston.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Lottie Melton Barnard; three brothers, Jake, Foster and Ralph Barnard; and one sister, Margaret Parker.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Roy Bellisle of Kingsland; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Barnard of Folkston; a sister and brother-in-law, Sue and David Hickox of Hickox; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mr. Barnard were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, from the chapel of the funeral home, with Elder Terry Barnard officiating.
Interment followed at 2 p.m. in the Little Phoebe Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Folkston.
Pallbearers were Mr. Barnard’s nephews.
