Mrs. Jones was born in Blakely Aug. 4, 1922, to the late John Council Weaver and Mary Alice Sessions Weaver. She was co-owner with her friend and business partner, Frances Evans, of Jones & Evans Income Tax & Bookkeeping Service. She was a member of the Sherwood Baptist church in Albany where she was a member of the Vota Vita Sunday school class. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William George “Billy” Jones Jr.; two brothers, Alton Weaver and Douglas Weaver; and three sisters, Olivia Davenport, Mary Alice Autry and Doris McEachern.
Mrs. Jones is survived by two daughters, Nancy Ivey and husband, Glenn, of St. Marys and Ann Hatchell of St. Marys; two grandchildren, Will Ivey and Lee Ivey; two great-grandchildren, Mallory Ivey and Wyatt Ivey, all of St. Marys; and two sisters, Marjorie Weaver Childree of Albany and Eunice Weaver Howard of Dothan, Ala. Several nieces and nephews also survive along with two very special caregivers: Loren Hamilton and Catrina Williams.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Golden Isles, located at 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Ga. 31525.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, in the Blakely Cemetery with Rev. David G. Smith and Ross Powell officiating.
