Charlie James Adkins, 68, passed away at UF Health Shands in Gainesville Fla., on Sunday night, March 24, 2019, from multiple health complications.
Charles was born June 25, 1950, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and became a native and lifelong resident of Camden County. He arrived here without any known biological family, but Charles was very charming and loving and adopted his own family.
He was active in his community attending social activities and training at Gateway Behavioral Health and Coastal Home Care for many years. Charles was able to maintain many jobs with his fun and energetic personality. Charles worked at the local Walmart, McDonalds, and made a host of friends in the community through these work sources.
He also volunteered at JR’s Barbershop and Weiner King where he adopted the Rollins Family. He also loved to follow the Camden County Wildcats football team games and attended Restoration Church on a regular basis with his adopted family Owen and Goodin. Charles rarely met a stranger. He was a very loving man. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan along with WWF Wrestling.
Charles also leaves to mourn a devoted caregiver, friend, case manager, Ametria Everett, and a host of friends and family. Services will be held at 11 .m. Friday, March 29, at Restoration Church.
