Mr. Richard Clyde Bacon, 83, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Irwinton Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Murphey officiating. Interment will follow in Irwinton Masonic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until the service hour.
Mr. Bacon was a native of Irwinton and the son of the late Nathaniel Hunter and Elizabeth Camp Bacon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Jean Bloodworth Bacon. He was a graduate of Georgia Technical Institute with a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and lived in St. Marys until 2000 when he returned to Irwinton. He was an avid quail hunter. He was retired from Gilman Paper Company and a member of Irwinton Baptist Church.
He is survived by sons, Patrick (Lisa) Bacon of Crestview, Fla., Raymond (Becky) Bacon of Warner Robins, Jason (Carrie) Kinchen of Murfreesboro and Nathaniel R. (Emma) Bacon of Irwinton; sister, Catherine Moodie and brother, Raymond (Grace) Bacon, both of Irwinton; grandchildren, Hunter Bacon, Mark (Alicia) Corrigan, Chelsea Corrigan, Blake Corrigan, Chandler Bacon, Brett (Dorian) Kinchen, Carson Kinchen, Landon Bacon and Hailey Bacon; and nieces and nephews.
