Fontaine Stafford Breon passed away on May 16, 2018, in Wilmington, Del.

She was born on Dec. 8, 1965, in Augusta, the daughter of Thomas Izlar Stafford Jr. and Nancy Cochran Stafford of Spartanburg, S.C. In her early years, Fontaine grew up in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., where she was active in Girl Scouts, dance and piano. She later moved to St. Marys and graduated from Camden County High School where she was active in the marching band and student government. She attended Mercer University and was class president for three years and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in communications.

After graduation, Fontaine married William Charles "Bill" Breon Jr. and moved to Virginia Beach.  Fontaine's great joy was her son, William Thomas Breon. She was a loving mother and a loving wife of 29 years. Fontaine was also a tireless servant in her church. She led Bible studies, the women's ministry and spent countless hours counseling. She was an incredible first lady of Immanuel Church located in Wilmington, Del., and will be dearly missed.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 25, at Christ St. Paul’s Anglican Church. Burial followed at St. Paul’s Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Cochran Stafford.

Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Dr. William Charles Breon Jr.; their son, William Thomas Breon; a brother, Thomas Izlar “Trey” Stafford III, and sister-in-law, Jan Weigel Stafford; her father, Thomas I. Stafford Jr. and stepmother, Catherine Hoffpauir Nesbitt.

Fontaine was a beautiful Southern belle who radiated the love of Jesus Christ.
