Harrison Benjamin Broomfield Jr., 62, of Kingsland departed this life early Wednesday morning, June 1, 2016, at Southeast Georgia Health System, Brunswick Campus, and moved on to his eternal home.
Harrison was born on Jan. 30, 1954, to the late Rev. Harrison and Martha Lanier Broomfield. He attended the Camden County school system and graduated from Camden County High School in 1972. Afterward, he enrolled in and graduated from the Job Corps Center in Utah, having completed studies and training in his trade of choice. He worked at Amelia Island Plantation for 30 years and closed out his job tenure as a banquet supervisor.
Harrison loved life and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Harrison Benjamin Broomfield Sr. and Martha Ann Broomfield; sister, Mary J. Taylor; brother, George Broomfield; and nephew, Tyrone Fields.
He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of 16 years, Rose Pinkney Broomfield; children, Lakisha Jones and Antonio Pinkney; two grandchildren, Christopher Johnson and Amayiah Jones; brother, Fred Lanier (Mary); three sisters, Bessie Hubbard (Herbert, deceased), Ellen Chance (Isaiah, deceased) and Shirley Benton; father-in-law and stepmother-in-law, Leon and Rosa Pinkney; six sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews; special friends, Levy Parrish, Ollie Marsh, James “Spookie” Rauls, Clifford Waye and Simon Frazier; his on-the-hill family; and a host of classmates and other friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at Carnegie Chapel Church in the Kinlaw community. Interment will be in Kinlaw Cemetery.
