Mrs. Willie Lorraine Bruce, 94 of Kingsland passed away on the early morning of Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at her son’s home in Harrietts Bluff.
Mrs. Bruce was born in Trenton, Fla., on May 28, 1924. She is the daughter of the late James Albion and Eliza Jane Sheffield Grau.
Her family said of her, Willie Lorraine Bruce, better known to everyone as Billie, Mom, Granny and Gigi, loved her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always participated in numerous family outings and activities. She loved her church and the Lord. She raised all her children to love the Lord and to serve others. She was very active in many capacities such as being a member of Sunday school, the women’s groups, the choir and volunteering her time in the church offices.
Billie was an excellent cook and often made great food for family and friends. Some of the favorites included her cornbread dressing, pork and rice, her soups, cobblers and fruit cakes. She would always cook and have many of us over to eat and enjoy one another.
She also liked to sew and made clothes for the grandchildren. She did cross stitch and crochet pieces for many people. Many family members and others have blankets and other crocheted pieces from her.
Billie always owned little dogs and they were often ones that were rescued. She spent much time taking care of her dogs and Cookie, her last dog, was a great companion for her and loved so dearly by her and all family members.
She enjoyed daily reading and doing her devotions. She really liked doing puzzles with her family, gardening and sharing her beautiful flowers with others. Billie will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
