Joseph B. Chaney Jr., 83, of Woodbine passed away on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at Magnolia Manor on St. Simons Island following an extended illness.
Joe was a lifelong resident of both Camden and Glynn counties and a graduate of Camden County High School. He was an apprentice at the Plumbers and Steam Fitters Local 177 and achieved the status of master plumber. He retired after 50 years of service. After retiring, Joe enjoyed being outdoors and tending to his 50-acre farm along with his children and grandchildren. He will be missed for his witty sense of humor and love for his family.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Lois Margaret Chaney of Woodbine; children, John Chaney of Glen Burnie, Md., Carol Chaney Bailey (Dennis) of Manassas, Va., Cindy Chaney Driemeyer (Doug) of Marietta, Robert White of Woodbine and Terry White Waller of St. Simons Island; sisters, Gladys Chaney Browning of Yulee, Fla., Sara Chaney Crownover of Clermont, Fla., and Delores Chaney Langley of Tallahassee, Fla.; grandchildren, Michelle Chaney, Amy Chaney, Joey Chaney, Aaron Bailey, Haley Waller, Reese Waller, Ryan Driemeyer and Maggie Driemeyer.
A celebration of Joe’s life was held from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation at parkinson.org or Hospice of the Golden Isles.
