Lamar Cloud, 83, passed away on July 6, 2018, at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick. He was the husband of Mary Josephine Cloud. They were married for 57 years.
Born Dec. 20, 1934, in Guntersville, Ala., he was the son of the late Willis (Will) Hines and Lila Jones Cloud. He graduated from Marshall High School and was a veteran of the United States Army.
Lamar worked for nine years at Hudson Pulp and Paper Company in Palatka, Fla. In 1961, he moved to St. Marys and worked at Gilman Paper Company for 38 years on No. 3 paper machine.
Lamar is survived by his wife; sons, Lamar Kevin Cloud, wife Anna, and William Keith Cloud; daughter, Donna Lisa Cloud Cansler, husband Charles; grandchildren, Rachel Ann Cloud, William Brent Cloud, James Heider Cloud, William Starbuck Cansler, Elizabeth Cauldwell Cansler, Catherine Furguson Cansler and Elsa Turner Cloud; sister, Callie Sue Young; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Opal Helms, Ossie Nell Touchstone and Gladys Norris; and brothers, Will Cloud, Walter Dixon Cloud and Andrew Belson Cloud.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 9, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in St. Marys with Father Mariusz officiating. Internment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in memory of Lamar Cloud to the American Cancer Society.
