Minnie Lee Cowart, 84, of St. Marys passed away Sept. 12, 2017, at South Georgia Health System, Brunswick Campus, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on Jan. 23, 1933, to the late Mary Jane Pinesette in Madison, Fla. Minnie spent most of her life as a homemaker and was the wife of the late Leroy Cowart. She was the oldest mother of Harvest Outreach Ministries where she served on the usher board.
Minnie was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jane Pinesette; her husband, Leroy Cowart; and her children, Lorenzo Rainey, Mary Watson and Donna Livingston.
Those left to cherish her memories are four daughters, Lillie (Lonnie) Johnson of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Loretta Timmons of Kingsland, Lisa Rainey of Jacksonville, Fla., and Sheila Timmons of St. Marys; five sons, Calvin Rainey, Charles Rainey and Ronald Rainey all of St. Marys, Henry Allen (Melanie) Rainey of Jacksonville, Fla., and William Rainey of Cross City, Fla.; two sisters, Maggie Reed of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Emily Bonnifield of Ft. Myers, Fla.; one brother, Alex (Emma) Thomas of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her daughter-in-law, Denise Rainey; her grandchildren, Amanda Thomas, Iris Rainy, Marvin Timmons, Tara Rainey, Kim Walthour, Tyrone Johnson, Erneshia Johnson, Shawntay Timmons, Natalie Rainey, Ashley Banks, Johnathan Rainey, Alanna Woodard, Emmett Rainey, Kevin Davis, Trenton Roberts, Erica Roberts, Charity Rainey, Savannah Rainey and Allen Rainey Jr.; 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Harvest Outreach Ministries, 905 Broome St. in Fernandina Beach.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Harvest Outreach Ministries. Interment will be in O'Neal Cemetery in Fernandina Beach.
