John R. Culp Sr., 63, of Kingsland passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Glynn County.
John was born April 9, 1954, in Elmira, N.Y. He had been a resident of Camden County since 1992 and was retired from the United States Navy with 20 years of service. He served his country honorably during the Vietnam era. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.
A gathering of friends and family was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys. A celebration of John’s life will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the VFW Post 8385 in Kingsland with full military honors. The family will receive friends following the ceremony.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Culp of Kingsland; daughter, Jeweleen Mitchell (Jerry) of Islandton, S.C.; sons, John Culp Jr. of Nome, Alaska, and Jerome Culp (Heather) of North Pole, Alaska; stepbrother, Rex Culp of Seattle; stepchildren, Amber Boris (Travis) of Davenport, N.Y., and Raymond Boris of Kingsland; seven grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.
Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.
