David Michael Dobson, 57, of St. Marys passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018, at UF Health Shands in Jacksonville, Fla.
David was born Jan. 3, 1961, in Gary, Ind. He had been a resident of Camden County since 1990 and was retired from the United States Navy after 24 years, serving his country honorably during Desert Storm and Iraq. He served on the USS Simon Bolivar, USS West Virginia where he was a plank holder, the USS Pennsylvania and the USS Rhode Island. Following his retirement, he was employed at Trident Refit Facility at Kings Bay sub base for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Dobson of St. Marys; sons, David Michael Dobson Jr. and wife Amanda of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Matthew Scott Dobson of Atlanta; granddaughter, Cameron Elizabeth Dobson; and parents, Oval and Patricia Dobson.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys. An inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors at a later date.
