Howard P. Ellerson, 62, of St. Marys passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2018, at Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden Campus.
Howard Preston Ellerson was born on Feb. 22, 1956, to the late Cornell Myers and Mildred Thomas in St. Marys. He was a lifelong commercial fisherman and shrimper. He attended St. Marys Elementary School and graduated from Camden County High School in 1974.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife of 14 years, Sharon Hopkins-Ellerson; five daughters, Despiny Ellerson, Brandi (Ray) Simmons of Augusta, Anessia Ellerson of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Shaneka Hopkins and Nina Hopkins of St. Marys; five sons, Matthew Ellerson and Howard Ellerson of Apalachicola, Fla., Chad Simmons and Brad Simmons of Augusta, Christian Hopkins of St. Marys and Miles Williams of Tarboro; eight sisters, Karen (Ernest) Edwards, Martina (Cyrus) Roberts, Valencia (Terry) Lidge, Lynn Zow, Cynthia (Aaron) Walker, Sheryl Parker, Cheryl (John) Banks and Cornellia (Tony) Jones; brother, Vern Myers; sisters-in-law, Devora, Janice, Connie, Susan, Rachel, Mary and Julia of Louisiana; brothers-in-law, Stephon, Chrissy, Ronald, Donald and Wesley of Louisiana; aunts, Norma Jean Miller, Elonia Myers, Eva (Benjamin) Jefferson, Peggy (Kenneth) Smith, Venus E. Austin, Viola Drummond and Ollie Foreman; unlces, Dorrie (Sandra) Myers, John (Joyce) Myers, Gary (Loretta) Myers and Ulysses (Rosa) Pinkney; 17 grandchildren; best friend, Marva Griffin; devoted special nieces, Shawina Foreman and Shawnda Drummond; special nephews, Sherman, Chris and Trevaris; devoted friends, Dwayne Foreman, Joe Williams, Ernesto Herring, Isadore Roberts Sr., Ervin Smith, Bernard Simmons, Maxine Davis and Rosetta Davis; and a host of loving cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at First African Baptist Church in St. Marys.
