Mildred I. Ellerson-Thomas, 81, of Woodbine passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Senior Care Center in St. Marys.
She was born on June 8, 1938, to the late Howard Ellerson and Margaret Johnson-Ellerson in St. Marys. She received her primary education at Ralph J. Bunche School and was a lifelong member of Jerusalem No. 1 Baptist Church in White Oak. Mildred was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, working puzzles and spending time with her family until her health began to fail.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sip Thomas; both parents, Howard and Margaret Ellerson Sr.; her son, Howard Ellerson Jr.; and two grandchildren, Lakeisha Wilson and Maurice Samuel.
Survivors include her children, Karen (Ernest) Edwards of Woodbine, Cynthia (Aaron) Walker of Meridian, Velencia Lidge of Tarboro, Martina (Cyrus) Roberts of Woodbine, Lynn Zow of Kingsland and Sheryl Parker of Woodbine; three sisters, Peggy (Kenneth) Smith of Kingsland, Venus Austin of Chicago and Margaret “Vi” Drummond of St. Marys; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Ellerson of St. Marys; 23 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends, Ollie Foreman and Sandra Myers.
A public viewing will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Allison Memorial Chapel, 10141 Colerain Road in St. Marys.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 26, at Jerusalem No. 1 Baptist Church, 300 Bailey Mill Road in White Oak. Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery in White Oak.
