Michael Dwayne Elliott, 57, of St. Marys passed away Saturday July 23, 2016, at Hospice of Golden Isles in Brunswick.
He was born Aug. 30, 1958, in Huntington, W.Va., to Lena and the late Archie Elliott.
In 1977, he met and married Melanie Steen in Orlando, Fla. They remarried on June 9, 1995, in St. Marys.
Mr. Elliott worked for Wyman Westberry for more than 21 years, building and maintaining Mom & Pop Food Stores in Camden County.
He was a dedicated member of Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 4379 in St. Marys. He had volunteered several years to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kingsland. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and was an avid Nascar fan. He was a huge collector of one-of-a-kind items and had a love for country and Southern rock music. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Melanie Elliott of St. Marys; mother, Lena Lindborg of Hilliard, Fla.; his brother, Ike (Kay) Elliott of Folkston; sister, Connie (Mike) Skirvin of Savannah; his children, Eric (Patricia) of Jacksonville, Fla., and Gene (Laura) of Kingsland; and his grandchildren, Kailyn, Hunter and Tru.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to Hospice of Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525.
A memorial/celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 31, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles No 4379, 101 C Industrial Drive in St. Marys.
