Mrs. Arlene Reynolds Gibson, 76, of Cumming died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018 at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care in Cumming.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Dean Ropp officiating, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Arlene was born Jan. 17, 1942, in Dodge County to the late Mary Burnham Reynolds and Joe Brown Reynolds and was a lifelong resident of Georgia, except for three years in Kentucky. She was a graduate of Dodge County High School, Georgia Southwestern University, Valdosta State University and was a member of North Lanier Baptist Church in Cumming.
She was a former employee of First National Bank for one year, the Bank of Eastman for more than 10 years and was a retired educator for Kingsland Elementary School for more than 33 years.
Arlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She had a passion for teaching, especially reading, working with toddlers in church and faithfully studying God’s word. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren, ministering to nursing home residents, cooking, sewing, helping others, working in her yard, reading, gardening and crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilton L. “Bill” Gibson.
Survivors include son, Dr. Bradford W. Gibson and wife, Stephanie of Cumming; two grandchildren, Christopher Gibson and Kennedy Gibson; two sisters, Susie Harrell of Eastman and Joyce Hutchinson of Clayton; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6.
