Thomas M. Granahan, 66, of St. Marys passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.
Born Jan. 9, 1951, in Norwalk, Conn., he was the son of the late Patrick and Margaret Granahan.
Thomas graduated from Brian McMann High School in Norwalk, Conn., and Norwalk Community College with a degree in general business. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served six years as a sergeant in the USAF Reserve doing his active training at Westover Air Force Base in Westover, Mass. He worked for Terminex International in Norwalk until his move to Broward County, Fla., in 1976 and he graduated from Atlantic Vocational Technical School Nursing Program. During his nursing career, he did extensive work in the prison health system from Florida to Connecticut to Georgia. Prior to retiring, he worked for Southeast Georgia Health System at both McIntosh Family Care Center and later in the Department of Health Promotion and Wellness. He was an active member of the Numismatic Society as well as the NRA.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Father Chris Ortega presiding. The family will receive friends at the church hall immediately following the services.
Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Cecelia Granahan of St. Marys; his four-legged daughter, Annie; brother, Patrick Granahan of North Carolina; sister, Margaret Bosich of Missouri; nephew, Matthew Granahan of South Carolina; niece, Lauren Granahan of New York; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Baroni and Sally Aspero.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to an animal shelter of your choice or the Nunnally House, 3215 Kemble Ave., Brunswick, GA 31520.
