Nicoya Lakeshia Jackson aka “Coco” was born on July 1, 1993, to Sandra Eldell-McDonald and Anthony Mario Jackson in Fernandina Beach, Fla. She received her formal education in the public school system of Charlton County where she was a graduate of the class of 2013.
Nicoya furthered her education at Coastal Pines Technical College in Waycross where she studied to become a medical assistant. She was known for her loving smile and beautiful spirit that was displayed in every aspect of her life. She was a member of Young Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Quan Glover.
“Coco” departed this life on March 4, 2017, as a result of a tragic accident. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Eugene Barnum and Wayne Hill; and her great-uncles, Corbett Eldell and Lenard Melton.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving mother, Sandy Eldell-McDonald of Folkston; her loving father, Anthony Mario (Josephine) Jackson of St. Marys; her grandparents, Betty Eldell of Folkston, MaeCatherine Hill of Woodbine and Joseph (Equilla) Jackson of Kingsland; her brothers, DeAngelo J. Dasher and Anthony D. Jackson, both of Folkston, and Devlyn H. Cousin of St. Marys; her sisters, Kendra R. Jackson and Ashley N. Powell-Cousin, both of St. Marys; her aunts, Molly (Richard) Houston of St. Marys, Julia Mae (Sam) Martin of Jacksonville, Fla., Patina Jackson of Jacksonville, Sharon F. Jackson of Kingsland and Glenda Jackson of Woodbine; her uncles, Ronald Eldell Sr. of Folkston, Shelton R. (Demetra) Jackson of Jacksonville, Darryl M. Cobbs of Woodbine and Joseph (Elsie) Jackson III of Orlando, Fla.; her great-aunts, Mary (Jean) Tanner and Joann (Brian) Washington, both of St. Marys, Brenda Stewart of Pontiac, Mich., Catherine (Malcolm) Bailey of Folkston, Celeste Mack and Elizabeth Dunham, both of Woodbine and Celia Maynor of Folkston; her great-uncles, Willie (Betty) Stewart of Montgomery, Ala., Lewis (Elizabeth) Stewart of Atlantic Beach, Fla., Perry (Joanie) Stewart of Atlantic Beach, Bobby (Nancy) Stewart of Fayetteville, N.C., JoeNathan (Kathy) Maynor of Brunswick, Willie Jackson of Baltimore and Larry (Sharon) Jackson of Guyton; a special motherly figure, Michelle Grange-Williams of Folkston; special friends, Courtney Williams, Breonna Milton, Atijuana Daniels, Kiara Edwards, Nodia Johnson and her now deceased friend, Jaqhayla Houston; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at Charlton County High School, 994 Indian Trail in Folkston. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Memorial Cemetery in Folkston.
