Jim Jay, 68, of St. Marys passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016.
Jim was born in Jenkins, Mo., in 1947. He was the son of the late Jack and Alice Jay.
He attended Beloit High School in Kansas, and later worked for the local Farmway Co-op for 38 years, while raising his beloved family. He was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan, a storytelling fisherman, a ruthless pitch card player and a devoted father and husband.
He never passed up the opportunity to eat seafood and loved enjoying it with others. There’s nothing he wouldn’t eat from the water so long as it would stay still and was fried.
The pitch card table and life overall will never be the same without him. He will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Joyce Jay; his children, Jenny Caldwell and her husband Tim of St. Louis, Michael Jay and his wife Jennifer of Kansas City, and David Jay of Kansas; four grandchildren, Jackson Caldwell, Kenny Caldwell, Hayden Jay and Blake Jay; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, in the chapel at the St. Marys United Methodist Church.
Memorial donations may be made to a Shriners hospital.
