J. Stanley Jones, 73, of St. Marys passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, surrounded by his family at Community Hospice Northeast Nassau in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
Born Dec. 12, 1942, in Pierce County, he was the son of the late John E. and Mary Louise Strickland Jones. He was also preceded in death by his nephew, Kelly Jones, and beloved mother-in-law, Ila Belle Allmond.
Stanley had been a resident of Camden County for the past 57 years, and was retired from Gilman Paper Company with 42 years of service. He was a loyal employee who gave tirelessly to the company. His retired life revolved around his four grandchildren, enjoying all of their school activities and dance recitals. He enjoyed baseball, football, fishing and woodworking. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Marys.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the First Baptist Church of St. Marys with Pastor Steve Kegley officiating. Interment followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys.
Pallbearers were Peyton Crawford, Steven Jones, Kyler Crawford, James Jones, David Boeck, Richie Moody and Robert Johns.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Annette Jones of St. Marys; sons and daughters-in-law, Nick and Michelle Jones of St. Marys and Brad and April Jones of Kingsland; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stafford and Diane Jones of Hoboken and Danny and Patsy Jones of Blackshear; grandchildren, John Jones, Kacey Jones, Joseph Jones and Sam Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
