Abraham Jones, Jr., 83, of St. Marys passed away on Friday, July 5, 2019, at Community Hospice in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
Deacon Abraham Jones, Jr., was born April 16, 1936, in St. Marys to Abraham Jones, Sr., and Martha Hubbard Jones Williams. He received his education in the schools of Camden County and graduated from Ralph J. Bunche High School.
Deacon Jones gave his life to Christ at an early age and loved singing in the choir. Singing was a big part of his life. Deacon Jones retired from Bayer Corporation in 2005. On Aug. 22, 1964, he was united in holy matrimony to Freddie Mae Williams. This union was blessed with two daughters, Hannah Jones and Clementine Jones Bradley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Hortense Jones Campbell and Clementine Jones Campbell; three brothers, Enoch, George and Jimmy Jones; and his stepfather, Deacon Quincy Williams.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Freddie Mae Jones; daughters, Hannah Jones and Clementine Bradley; grandson, Jerry Bradley III; brother, Artie Jones, Sr.; sister-in-law, Connie Jones; godsons, Bernard Foreman and Brandon Foreman; goddaughter, Tamala Foreman; step-granddaughter, Jarica Bradley and her daughters, Paris and Lauren; special friends, Willie and Ceola Foreman, Larry and Ester Davis and Richard and Julie Linkous; special nephew, Roland Banks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2019, at First African Baptist Church, 812 Wheeler St., St. Marys. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday, from 6-8 p.m. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
