Margaret Fleming Jordan, 88, of St. Marys passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2018, surrounded by her devoted family at Hospice of the Golden Isles.
Sister Margaret Fleming Jordan was born March 10, 1930, to the parentage of the late Mr. Garfield Fleming Sr. and Mrs. Estella Fleming. She was the loving wife of Mr. Harvey Jordan Jr., who preceded her in death.
Sister Margaret had a very fruitful life. She attended and graduated from Camden County Training School in St. Marys. After graduation, she went to New York to attend nursing school. She worked as a nurse for 32 years at Gilman hospital in St. Marys.
She was an active member of First African Baptist Church in St. Marys. She was also a life member of Camden County Chapter No. 191, Order of Eastern Stars. She was a mother of four daughters, two of whom preceded her in death, Virginia Jordan Wilson and Sarah Jordan Coleman.
She leaves to always cherish her memory, daughters, Linda Jordan Davis of St. Marys and Carol Roberson (Ronald) of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Kristie Pinkney of Houston, Kala Sullivan (Cory) and Kevin Harvey Davis of St. Marys, and Reginald Wilson and Marcus Wilson of Atlanta; eight great-grandchildren, Darius Sullivan, Tyann Davis, Dejuan Sullivan, Kaelynn Davis and Devin Sullivan, all of St. Marys, Cierra Costick of Japan, Dylann Blackmon of Kingsland and Kalylah Wilson of Atlanta; and two great-great-granddaughters, Kylie and Kamirah.
She also leaves to cherish her memory a very loving and devoted sister, Estella F. German of Folkston. She will always be remembered by her devoted friends, Roscoe and Corrine Alderman; sisters-in-law, Mable Johnson of St. Marys and Deloris Sullivan of Woodbine; brothers-in-law, Robert Jordan Sr. and James Jordan, both of St. Marys; devoted adopted grandsons, Lambert Brown (Rhonda) and Daryell Alderman; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at First African Baptist Church in St. Marys. There will be no wake. The body will lie in state two hours before the service. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
