Arnold Dewitt Joseph passed peacefully into eternal rest on Jan. 10, 2018, at 4:50 a.m. at Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden Campus.
Arnold was born Feb. 22, 1955, in Camden County, but at an early age moved and resided in Port Arthur, Texas. The family moved back to Kingsland when Arnold was a teenager and he had resided here since. Arnold graduated from Glynn Academy in Brunswick and Brunswick College with a degree in drafting.
Arnold was the son of Morrison Waye Sr. of Brunswick and Jestine J. Ford of Kingsland.
Arnold accepted Christ at an early age. Arnold was a godly and willing servant for Christ. Arnold loved his family and was the champion, as well as advocate for drug awareness in his church and community. Arnold was a faithful servant and member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served as the church school superintendent, teen church school teacher, trustee board, senior choir and the church accountant.
Arnold also served as a commissioner with the Kingsland Consolidated Housing Authority for more than 30 years and as a member of the Black Business Leaders of Camden until his health would not allow him to continue.
Arnold retired from Bayer CropScience in 2007, where he worked as a senior maintenance planner for more than 28 years.
He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife, Kathleen Alston Joseph; daughters, Kimberly Pierre of Houston, Texas, Lisa Lattany of Kingsland and Laycie Joseph of Atlanta; goddaughters, Rekina Hall of Atlanta and Serenity Minchew of Kingsland; godson, Jason Washington of Kingsland; his parents, Morrison Waye Sr. and Jestine Ford; his siblings, Serena Joseph, Charles (LaTonya) Moss, Charlene Carter, Gerard Moss, DeNina McNeair, Morrison Waye Jr., Greta Paisley and Ben (Michelle) Lane; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Jan. 13 at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church in Kingsland with the Rev. Dr. Leon Washington officiating and Rev. Johnnie Mae Fleming, the eulogist and pastor of St. Paul AME Church in Kingsland. Interment followed at Kingsland City Cemetery.
Hillman-Pratt & Walton Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Fla., was in charge of the arrangements.
