Stevenson Joseph, 89, of Kingsland passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018, in Brunswick.
He was born on April 25, 1929, in Kingsland to the late Joe and Katie Joseph. He attended Camden County public schools before joining the United States Army. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1957.
Stevenson and his family lived in Norwalk, Conn., for many years. He worked as a presser in the dry cleaning industry most of his life, was a lifetime member of St. Paul AME Church, loved singing in the choir and at local churches in and around Camden County. He was a charter member of American Legion Post 511 in Kingsland where he served for more than 30 years.
Stevenson met and married the late Mallie Randolph Joseph in 1955 and to this union four children were born.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Joe, Gloria, Lene Henderson (Ron) and Steve (Kelly); grandchildren, Jarvis (Melissa), Celandria (Nicholas), Omar (Nikki), Jamila, Anthony (Christina), Brian, Kayla and Asia; great-grandchildren; sisters, Diane Joseph, Luverta Anderson and Jestine Ford; sisters-in-law, Delia Mae Joseph, Sarah Joseph, Sarah Alderman, Evelyn Campbell; brothers-in-law, Hezekiah Campbell Jr. and Ralph Alderman; and many devoted, caring and supportive nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, at St. Paul AME Church. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
