Mrs. Barbara Loretta King, 68, of St Marys passed away Friday morning, April 8, 2016, at her home after an extended illness.
Barbara was born Nov. 15, 1947, in Providence, R.I., and was the daughter of the late Rufus H. and Alice E. Holton.
She was a very loving mother, wife and grandmother who adored her family. She was a very active member of Westside Baptist Church where she served for 50 years and loved her church family. Barbara was a true blessing to her family and friends and will be missed greatly.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 50 years, Tommy L. King of St. Marys; two daughters, Kim Wimpey and her husband Ricky of St. Marys and their daughter Meagan Morrison (16) and Kellie Kimbrell and her husband Mike of Florence, Ala., and their children Peyton (19), Madison (15) and Ashton (14); a brother, James Holton (Shirley) of Blackshear; a sister, Debbie Pittman (Neal) of Homerville; and many nieces, nephews and other family.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 11, at Westside Baptist Church and was officiated by Pastor Mark Gentry, Pastor Greg Gardell and Pastor Verdell Griffin. Graveside services followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Allison Memorial Chapel.
Active pallbearers were McL Carter, Billy Hope, Roger Pate, Paul Payne, Teddy Varnedore, Larry Guinn, Evan Cantrell and Paul Donahue. Honorary were Steve Meeks, Adrian Meeks, Denny Hill, Lamar Warren and Don Powell.
