Nolan King Sr., 92, of Kingsland passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017.
Nolan King Sr. was born Nov. 8, 1924, in Silco to the late Geneva Robertson and Alonzo King. He enlisted in the United States Navy and later retired from Union Carbide Corporation.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie Fullwood King, and sons, Nolan Jr., John Arthur and Michael D. King.
He leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Ralph Lee King Sr., Robert King Sr. (Beverly) and Maurice King; daughters, Lillie Mae Melton (Amos Sr.), Rovenia and Winnifred King (John); daughter-in-law, Vanessa King; niece, Shelia King; grandchildren, Donna Monique, Fayon, Courtney, Candice, Christopher, Sandra, Ralph Jr., Travis, Robert Jr, Autumn, Breona, Ashanti, Paula, Anita, Amos, Latonya, Lisa and Nikki; 40 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, Khaza Nolan and Kinslee Noel, “Shorty and “Slim”; and a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Kingsland Cemetery.
