Nannie Josephine Lanham, 94, died Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the home of her grandson, Robbie Lanham, in Charles Town, W.Va.
She was born on April 24, 1923, and was a longtime resident of Loudoun County, having lived in Leesburg, Va., for more than 60 years. She served as cafeteria manager at Loudoun County Public Schools for many years. Nannie had a love for cooking and gardening. She enjoyed going to church every week and taking care of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.
She was predeceased by her mother, Fannie May Grey; father, Willis Carl Hough; brothers, Alex, Willis and Charles Hough; sisters, Thelma Chapman, Annie West, Alma Henry and Mary Tomblin; her husband, Charles Walker Lanham; son, Robert James Lanham; and great-grandson, Christian Alexander Dinkins.
She is survived by her sons, Charles (Bill, Chuck) William Lanham of St. Marys and Roger Lee Lanham of Purcellville, Va.; sister-in-law, Eleanor (Polly) Glesner of Martinsburg, W.Va.; grandchildren, Robert K. Lanham of Charles Town, W.Va., William J. (Bill) and Cindy Lanham of Franklin, N.J., Kimberly Lanham Dinkins of Winchester, Va., and Kathleen Lanham Hardy of West Virginia; great-grandchildren, Randy Lanham of Inwood, W.Va., Amber Welch of Charles Town, W.Va., Angela Lanham and Andrea Lanham of Franklin, N.J., and Tanner Lee Dinkins and Ava Catherine Dinkins of Berryville, Va.; and great-great-grandchildren, Olivia Welch and Christian Welch of Charles Town, W.Va.
Funeral services will be held at Loudoun Funeral Chapel in Leesburg, Va. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 15. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, with Pastor Nichols of Loudoun Baptist Temple officiating with interment following at Ebenezer Cemetery in Bloomfield, Va.
Pallbearers are David Lanham, Joe Lanham, Robbie Lanham, Bill Lanham, Ross Myers and Tanner Dinkins. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Simmons, Brad Myers, Ben Myers and Jerry Tomblin.
