William "Bill" Lewis, 68, of St. Marys passed away Friday, May 20, 2016, at Hospice of the Golden Isles.
He was born on Dec. 2, 1947, in Nashville, Ga., to the late Herbert Grady Lewis and Marilyn Tullis. He served as a police officer in Nashville, Ray City and St. Marys police departments in Georgia. He loved law enforcement and enjoyed every day on the job.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Lewis of St. Marys; brother and sister-in-law, John and Melissa Lewis of Stuart, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Georgianna and Michael Hudson of Plainville, Conn.; aunt, Doris Mathis of Lakeland; two nieces and a number of cousins.
Funeral service were at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 22, in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services. Burial followed in Poplar Springs Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to services.
