On March 13, 2016, Christian Lee McGuirt, known by his friends, family and loved ones as "Chris,” passed away at age 30 due to injuries sustained in a tragic car accident March 3 on the way to his home in Hortense.
He was born and raised in Fernandina Beach, Fla. He graduated from FBHS where he played football from middle through high school. He moved to Camden County only to meet the love of his life, Katie Kitchens, married and had two beautiful children, Allison Christina McGuirt and Daniel Hunter Lee McGuirt.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. Chris was a simple, honest, hardworking, Southern family man. His last hours were spent surrounded by his family and friends as he passed.
He is also survived by his biggest fans, grandmother, Alice McGuirt; mother, Patricia Cloud; stepfather, Stephen Cloud; aunt, Marie Driggars; uncle, Larry Brower; cousins, Megan McGuirt-Mora (Irving Mora, husband) Courtney Driggars, Brooke Eakes (Chris Eakes, husband), Allen McGuirt and Brandy McGuirt; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, March 18, at Green Pine Funeral Home.
There will be a graveside ceremony at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, at Bosque Bello Cemetery.
Chris was well-loved by all he met. He will always be cherished and live on forever in our hearts.
