Shalor Eason Mills, 89, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at Wayne County Memorial Hospital in Jesup.
Mr. Mills was a native of Sandersville but he had resided in Woodbine since 1976. He was the son of the late Shalor H. and Hattie Ruth Mills. He was the husband of the late Martha Bowdoin Mills.
He was also a veteran of the United States Navy. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation as a surveying party chief. He was a survey party chief building the Interstate 95 between Darien and the Florida line. He was an avid fan and follower of the Atlanta Braves. He also was a member of the First Baptist Church in Woodbine.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, to honor his life at Memory Hill Cemetery in Milledgeville with the Dr. Clayton Turner Jr. officiating.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, at the First Baptist Church in Woodbine.
He is survived by two stepdaughters, Joy F. Banks (Rill) of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and M. Gay Fowler of Terrell, Texas; also two stepsons, Francis E. Fowler (Laurie) of Woodbine and William W. Fowler (Cindy) of Ridgeland, S.C. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. However, his family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
