June Carolyn Mizell, 76, of St. Marys passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden Center.
June was born on Nov. 24, 1941, to the late Maria Ann Mizell and the late Howard Myers. She attended Ralph J. Bunche High School. She enjoyed playing softball in her youth as well as sewing. She was employed at Thiokol Chemical Corporation. She was a member of Wheeler Street Church of God and served as an usher until her health declined.
June had a loveable, welcoming personality and was well loved by all who knew her.
June enjoyed reading, listening to gospel music and doing puzzles. She absolutely loved spending time with her grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “Ganna.”
June was preceded in death by her son, Marshel L. Mizell (Mary); her son-in-law, Brad E. Foreman; her grandson, Jaden C. M. Mitchell; and her brothers, Stanley Lane, Jerry Mizell and Archie Myers (El Lounya).
Loved ones that will be cherishing June’s memories include her children, Michael D. Mizell, Avis M. Foreman (Carlos), Andrea M. Mizell (Andre) and Geron L. Scarlett (Ashley); brothers, Douglas M. Lane (the late Adrianne), Bishop Kenneth L. Hill (Janice), Gary Myers (Loretta), Dorrie Myers (Sandra) and John Myers (Joyce Ann); sisters, Eva Jefferson (Ben) and Jean Payne; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a special godbrother, Alexander Davis; a devoted cousin and friend, Judy Livingston; devoted friends, Louise Carter, Dorothy Whitaker, Ella Wilson, Ruby Sibley and Carolyn Attaway; a special brother, Charles Floyd; a special cousin, Sheryl Jones; a special extended family, the Telegas; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Wheeler Street Church of God. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
