Thomas Carl Myers Sr., 85, of St. Marys passed away on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at Folkston Park following a lengthy illness.

"Carl,” as he was affectionately known by his family and close friends, was born on Jan. 19, 1933, to the late Thomas Jefferson and Pearl Holzendorf-Myers in St. Marys, where he was educated. Carl spent 32 years as an employee of Gilman paper mill before retiring and was also a known shrimper and fisherman until his health began to fail. He was a member of Wheeler Street Church of God in St. Marys under the leadership of then pastor Elder Raymond Campbell where he attended until his health began to fail and he was unable to attend.

Carl was preceded in death by both parents, Thomas Jefferson and Pearl Myers; four sisters, Joyce Myers-Floyd, Dorothy James, Loretta Pollard and Susie Bell Myers; and two grandchildren, Delicia Chenell Myers and Carlton Myers.

He leaves to mourn his passing: his loving wife, Johnnie Ethel Moody-Myers; his daughters, Carletha Myers-Rainey of St. Marys, Cynthia (Harrell) Bailey of Rochester Hill, Mich., Sharon (Moses) Wynn of Spring Bluff, Errica (Johnny) Milton of Folkston, Starlette (John) Reeder of St. Marys and Carla Arisa Myers of Atlanta; his sons, Thomas Carl (Nancy Marie) Myers Jr. of Woodbine and Fredrick Darnell Myers of St. Marys; his brothers, King Earl Myers of Jacksonville, Fla., Roy (Stephanie) Myers and Donald (Rosaline) Myers, both of Washington, D.C.; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Wheeler Street Church of God, 900 Wheeler St. in St. Marys.

Final arrangements entrusted to Royal Funeral Home Inc. in Jesup.
