Carey “Tom” Pafford, 67, of St. Marys passed away Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick.
Tom was born Aug. 27, 1951, in Palatka, Fla., and had resided in Camden County since 2001. He coached pee wee football at the Camden Recreation Center and also coached the St. Marys
Hurricanes. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp for 12 years and served his country honorably during the Vietnam era. Tom was so proud of the construction work he had done from Florida to Georgia most all of his life until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, football and reading.
A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2018, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys.
Survivors include his wife, Petra M. Pafford of St. Marys; children, Tom Pafford Jr. of Gilbert, Ariz., Travis Cavalieri (Heather) of St. Marys, Christina Ranck (Kevin) of Palm City, Fla., Kenneth Pafford of Jacksonville, Fla., and Adam Pafford of Peoria, Ill.; grandchildren, Emberlyn Ranck and Kenley Pafford; one sister and one brother. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Grinner Shepherd.
