Deacon Julius LeGrant Raysor, 80, of Woodbine passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the Senior Care Center in St. Marys following a lengthy illness.

He was born on July 9, 1937, to the late George Washington and Nettie Lee Dallas·Raysor in Woodbine. He was educated in Peck High School in Fernandina Beach, Fla., and was employed with ITT Rayonier where he worked as a wood chip feeder operator and retired after 37 years of service. Julius also worked as a shrimper.

His fondest times were spent racing cars and once that was done he would always enjoy a evening of fishing. Julius was a former member of Jerusalem #1 Baptist Church where he became an ordained deacon and later became a member of Christ Is All Christian Center in Brunswick under the leadership of Rev. Maurice Roberts. Julius was preceded in death by both of his parents, George W. and Nettie Lee Raysor, his loving wife, Leonar Hamilton-Raysor and a grandchild, Markquetta Raysor.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his children, LaVerne A. (Junior) Johnson, Yulee, Fla., Shelena (Clifford) Hawkins, Albany, Shontrell Reed, Raleigh. N.C., Vincent (Rachel) Reed Jr., Denham Springs. La., Tameshia Sapp, Woodbine and JaKiay Jackson, who he raised as his own; his siblings, Sarah Walker, Dover Bluff, Geneva (John) Terry and George l. (Thelma) Raysor, both of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Judith Raysor, Hermonston, Ore., James (Jacquelyn) Raysor, East Green Bush, N.Y., Robert L. (Lydia) Raysor, Trenton, N.J., J. Herman (Diane) Raysor and Paul G. (Gwendolyn) Raysor, both of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Michelle (Henry) Passmore, Grand Forks, N.D .. and Anita (Jerry) Timmons, Fernandina Beach, Fla.; his mother and father in-law, Herbert and Lottie Hamilton Sr., White Oak; his sisters in-law. Judith Ann (Eli) Foreman, Brunswick, Alice (Bishop Terry Sr.) Mack, Woodbine, Terry Hamilton, White Oak. and Bea (Michael) Lewis, Clarksville. N.C.; a goddaughter, Josette Donaldson, Atlanta; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Jerusalem #1 Baptist Church, 300 Bailey Mill Road, White Oak. Ga., 31568.

Remains will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be held in White Oak Cemetery.

Final arrangements were entrusted to Royal Funeral Home, Inc., Jesup.
