Valerie Joy Richmond, age 65, of St. Marys passed away peacefully on March 16, 2016, at her home.
Valerie was born in Rochester, N.Y., on Dec. 21, 1951. She is one of 13 children of the late Howard Glenn House Sr. and Mary Van Castle House.
Valerie spent most of her life caring for others, raising her two children as a stay-at-home mother and, most recently, caring for dear friends in their times of need. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, planting and spending time with her friends and family.
Valerie lived a simple life, content with what she had, always speaking her mind and never letting things bring her down. She had a way of making everyone around her laugh with her funny commentaries and spunky personality. She didn’t have a lot to give but gave of herself wholeheartedly. She will be greatly missed by many.
Valerie is survived by her beloved children, Christopher (Brandy) Richmond of Kingsland and Christina (Paco) Saldana of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; her grandchildren, Meghan Richmond, Matthew Richmond and Brendan Richmond of Kingsland and Isabella Saldana, Nikolas Saldana and Sophia Saldana of Fernandina Beach; her surviving siblings, Patricia Anne House, Joan Mary House, Howard Glenn House Jr., Linda Lee House Williams, Keith Wayne (Ericka) House, David Eugene House, Douglas Lowell (Cheryl) House, Steven Bryan (Jill) House, Barbara Jean House and Randall Scott House.
She joins both parents and siblings, Howard Glenn House III and John Howard House, in Heaven.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, March 21, at Coastal Camden Funeral Home of Kingsland with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m.
Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland is entrusted with Ms. Richmond’s arrangements.
