Mother Lilla V. Walker-Robinson, 89, of Kingsland passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Southeast Georgia Health System, Brunswick Campus, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on Dec. 26, 1927, to the late Simon Walker Sr. and Annie Kelly Tyson-Walker in White Oak. Mother Lilla received her education at Ralph J. Bunche and was a retiree of the Camden County Board of Education where was employed as the lead dietician for more than 28 years.
She was a faithful and dedicated member of First African Baptist Church for the past 70 years. Mother Lilla was the first advisor for the young people choir at First A.B. Church.
She was an avid reader and was a loyal Wildcat football fan and dedicated civic worker. She was a great supporter of the NAACP, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and was a former member of the Eastern Star. Her hobbies were sewing, cooking and it did her heart all the good to attend weddings. There were many recipes that Mother had that everyone loved but till this day no one could duplicate, which were her tea cakes and potato pone.
Mother Lilla loved life and lived it to the fullest and would help anyone in need. She was that virtuous woman that the the Bible speaks of. Her presence will most definitely be missed but her memories will live forever.
Mother Lilla was preceded in death by both parents, Simon and Annie Walker, and her siblings, Simon Walker Jr., Clifton Walker, Johnnie Walker and Gloria Jean Booth.
Those left to cherish her memories are her lifelong best friend and father of her children, Johnnie Robinson Sr. of Kingsland; her loving and devoted children, Yvette (Lewis) Burch, Felicia (Arnell) Jackson and Johnnie (Reneé) Robinson II, all of Kingsland; two brothers, Robert Walker and Emanuel (Janie Bell) Walker, both of White Oak; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss her sorely.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at First A.B. in Kingsland.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at First A.B. Church in Kingsland. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in White Oak.
