Edward L. Rodgers, 84, of St. Marys passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden.
Born July 18, 1934 in Cottondale, Fla., he was the son of the late John C. and Gertrude Stephens Rodgers. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, J.C. Rodgers and Roy Rodgers; and sisters, Kathleen Rodgers and Agnes Gainey.
Mr. Rodgers had been a resident of Camden County since 1942 and was retired from Gilman Paper Company with 30 years of service. He was a member of the F&AM Masonic Lodge No. 109 in St. Marys and Scottish Rite No. 1835. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and his main hobbies were working on cars, lawnmowers, bikes, boats and motors. He was of the Methodist faith.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys with Pastor J. Roy White officiating and with masonic rites. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Allison Memorial Chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Ann Hart Rodgers of St. Marys; daughters, Teresa Lynn Rodgers Meeks (Jimmy) of St. Marys and Penny Suzanne Rodgers Parsons (Darwin) of Dawsonville; grandchildren, James Edward Register (Jillian), Jennifer Lynn Dickey (Brad), William David Jones and Dawn Elise Register; great-grandchildren, Amanda Register, Katlyn Register, Lauren Register, Colton Holland and Gabriel Holland; and several nieces and nephews.
Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.
