Mr. Dale Robert Somers Sr., 57, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, surrounded by his family at his home in Kingsland.
Mr. Somers was born on Oct. 2, 1961, in Tucson, Ariz., to the late George and Patricia Somers. Mr. Somers was in the U.S. Air Force from 1980 to 1995. After serving, he was employed by Lockheed Martin where he was a senior missile mechanic for the last 11 years.
Dale was probably best known for being the kind of man that was always ready to go the extra distance to help another person whether they were a family member, a friend, a neighbor or even a stranger. He was a quiet, kind and gentle giant with a loving and deeply sweet spirit. He was a selfless person who was truly loved by everyone who knew him.
Mr. Somers is survived by his beloved wife, Moreigh “Seana” Somers of Kingsland; his daughters, Rachael (Nicholas) Allison, Mary-Kathryn Edmiston and Victoria (Dean) Edmiston-Kessler, all of Pennsylvania; his sons, Dale (Sabine) Somers Jr. of Pennsylvania, Robert (Tracy) Somers of Texas and Ian Moore of Japan (Air Force); his sister, Bernice (Rafel) Torrez of Oregon; his brothers, Don (Linda) Somers of Arizona, Dave (Bonnie) Somers of Arizona, Daniel Somers of Oregon and Dr. Douglas (Sharon) Somers of Iowa; and his 13 grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mr. Somers was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at the Friendship Baptist Church in Kingsland with Pastor Steven Buchholz presiding.
Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland was entrusted with Mr. Somers’ arrangements.
