Virgil Thomas Wainwright Sr., 83, of Kingsland passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.
Born May 10, 1933, in Camden County, he was the son of the late Marshall and Eula Wainwright. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sueann Wainwright, and great-grandson, Kaiden Bryce.
Mr. Wainwright was retired from Gilman Paper Company with 40 years of service. He was a Mason, member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed fishing and farming and was a member of the Ruhamah Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children, Todd Wainwright (Tracy) of Kingsland, Angie Wainwright Baker of Yulee, Fla., Thomas Wainwright (Vickey) of Yulee, Charles Wainwright (Susie) of Kingsland and Donna Kay Crutcher of Folkston; beloved stepdaughter, Bonnie Sue Hall and wonderful husband, Larry of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; sister, Carlene Wainwright of Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his loving pet, Peanut.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 10, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys with Pastor Larry Hall officiating. Burial followed at Clarks Bluff Cemetery in Kingsland. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Bill Smith, Bobby Williamson, Al Chapman, Chad Palmer, Clifton Quinn, Rob Mastroianni, Pete Mercer and Ronnie Peeples.
