Emily Burris Wise, 85, of St. Marys passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.
Born Nov. 16, 1932, in Wilmington, N.C., she was the daughter to the late Orion Bateman Ives and the late Sally Ennis Ives. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Linwood Bateman Ives.
Mrs. Wise had been a resident of Camden County since 1966 and a very active member of Point Peter Baptist Church. She was a Girl Scout leader as well as a Boy Scout leader. Mrs. Wise had been employed at Hallmark for 20-plus years. She was known for her friendliness, good nature and kindness to everyone she knew. She enjoyed shopping, and loved to travel to Wilmington each year for their reunions. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Order of the Amaranth.
Survivors include her husband, Troy Wise Sr. of St. Marys; son, Edward Wise of Alabama; daughter, Allison Rowe of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren, Melissa Wise-Julian, Tristen Haines, Albert Thornton, Tori Tapley and Charlie Rowe; three great-grandchildren, Rhiannon Wise, Raygen Jacobs and Mason Jacobs.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 22, at Point Peter Baptist Church in St. Marys with Pastor Doug Gibson presiding and Eastern Star rites. Burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery with the Order of Amaranth rites. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys .
The family requests contributions in memory of Mrs. Emily Wise be made to diabetes for research.
