Theodore M. Young, 84, of the Greenville community in Kingsland was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 9, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Theodore Marion Young was born to the late Wesley A. Young and Henrietta Cogswell in Savannah on Dec. 13, 1932. Theodore received his early education in the Chatham County school system in Savannah. He also attended Savannah State College. Theodore served as a lineman in the United States Army. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Staten Island, N.Y. After moving to Kingsland, he became a member of the Kingsland Church of Christ and served faithfully until his health failed.
Besides his parents, preceding him in death are his brothers, Wesley and Vernon Young.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Inez Dawson Young; daughter, Pamela M. Young; grandsons, Kevin Young, Amari Stephens, Premere, Ahmad and Kareem Young, Saleem and Arkeem (Theresa) Dennis; 15 great-grandsons; nephews, Mario (Erika) Young, Herman (Regina) Young and Stacey (Sabrina) Young; nieces, Sheila Black and Debra Suggs; adopted siblings, Laura Johnson, Barbara Davis, Luther Walker, Eugene Walker and Lara Walker; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Rev. Anthony) Domacase, Evelyn “Blackie” Wright and Sylvania Dawson; brothers-in-law, Leroy (Ruth) Dawson Sr. and Tyrone Black; godsons, Kevin M. and Kaden M. Bennett; friends that are like family, Malinda (LC) Edwards, Adrain (Jessica) Smith, John (Laurie) Allen and Roberta Glover; a dear friend, Robert Mahurdro; a special cousin, Jimmie Dawson; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at Kingsland Church of Christ. There will be no wake. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Mallette Cemetery.
