Catherine “Kitty” Yount of Kingsland passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick surrounded by her family.

She was a native of Louisville, Ky. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her early career she was an X-ray technician before becoming a mother. In later years after the children were grown, she was a medicine assistant to the doctor of a private practice in Fort Myers, Fla. After retiring, “Nana” enjoyed time with her family. In the past she had been active in many charitable works, including the Junior League and garden club in Lexington, Ky., and The Daughters of the King in St. Marys.

She was preceded in death by her parents, A. Scott Hamilton and Sue “Sid” Hamilton Rowell, also her stepfather Richard Rowell.

Survivors include her husband, Barry Yount; a son, Donald H Vish (Lisa); a daughter, Daphne Sullivan (Russell); eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at Laurel Island Golf Club. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525, or the Humane Society of Camden County, PO Box 1270, Kingsland, GA 31548, would be appreciated.
