A Washington, D.C., mom, who allegedly caused the death of her 7-year-old son in a car accident last week, is being held on several charges in Camden County.

Georgia State Patrol troopers arrested 42-year-old Charlina McBride on multiple charges April 22, including first-degree homicide by vehicle, serious injury by vehicle, open container, driving under the influence of multiple substances and three counts of endangering a child while DUI. She is being held without bond.

McBride crashed her Kia Optima into the back of an International truck at about 5:24 p.m. April 22 in the far right lane around mile marker 10 on Interstate 95 north, according to the GSP accident report. The impact spun her car into the far left lane.

McBride was wearing her seat belt but her three children were not. Seven-year-old Dillan Ansariddeen, who was in the front passenger seat, died from his injuries. Riding in the backseat were a 1-year-old girl, who was not in a car seat, and a 4-year-old boy. They were both taken to the hospital with either minor injuries or just to be checked out. All of the air bags deployed and no one was ejected or had to be extricated from the car.

The other driver, Wade Lee of Hortense, was not hurt.

Less than a year ago, McBride led Virginia state troopers on a high-speed chase with her three children in the car. She reached speeds of more than 120 mph before police used stop sticks, according to WJLA in Virginia. Her next hearing in that case is in September.

McBride also faces charges in Camden for reckless driving, following too closely, not having a child in a seat belt and improper lane change/failure to maintain her lane.
