Ms. Lieselotte Marianne Spangenthal, 88, passed away on the evening of Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, in her home surrounded by family, in Kingsland.

Ms. Spangenthal was born on July 15, 1932, in Stettin, Germany, to the late Marianne Hensler (born Von Fraser) and Hans Curt Hensler.

Lieselotte was the wife of the late Helmut Spangenthal, faithfully widowed for 22 years. She had two siblings, Peter Hensler and Kate Hensler. She was the loving mother of Ruben T. Spangenthal and Karin-Anne M. Koenig Banks (born Spangenthal), mother-in-law to Larry D. Banks, stepmother to Sonya, Charlie and Dale Spangenthal. Ms. Spangenthal also left behind many other relatives and friends.

She was a loving grandmother to Dustin J. Koenig, Justin D. Spangenthal, Travis S. Koenig and Jasmine R. Koenig, and great-grandmother to Brielle M. Koenig and Cora-Rose Koenig.

Ms. Spangenthal was brought up with an affinity for the fine arts and cultures of Europe. Her most important values in life were family first, love, pride and respect. She was an avid reader, a history buff, a connoisseur of classical music and fine crystal and bone china. She was a teacher of sales psychology and an ethics coach.

As a young woman who survived World War II, she had a remarkably unique perspective on life. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, Department of France.

Ms. Spangenthal had an incredible life that words could not describe, the light of her life was her family. Cooking for the family, fine woodwork and pottery, gardening, birds, traveling, visiting museums and the ocean were some of the things that always brought a smile to her face. Her smile and her presence was a gift, just being around her brought joy to your life.

A private memorial service was held by the family.

Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland is entrusted with Ms. Spangenthal’s arrangements.
