Accidents sends two to hospital
A four-vehicle accident shut down Harrietts Bluff Road in both directions for more than an hour Monday. At about 3:58 p.m., a 2011 Ford pickup truck driven by 69-year-old Donald Quarterman of Hazelhurst stopped in the eastbound lane for a school bus to drop off students, according to the Georgia State Patrol report.
Behind Quarterman, a 2014 Honda Accord driven by Jon McCahan, 53 of Woodbine, had stopped and a 2012 Ford Explorer driven by Dorothy King, 38 of Woodbine, was slowing down. The fourth vehicle in line, a 2004 Dodge pickup driven by 87-year-old Jack Sutton of Woodbine, failed to stop and struck the Explorer, setting off a chain reaction.
King and McCahan were transported to Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden Campus. Sutton and Quarterman were not injured.
Sutton was cited for following too closely.
